Surfwise
Playing July 5 & 6, Selected Showtimes- See Below

A film by Doug Pray
Rated R, 93 minutes

"Surfwise has a bohemian vibe and a cool sheen, but it's an eager-to-please, pleasing commercial enterprise with a reassuring narrative arc." - Manohla Dargis, New York Times

Surfwise tells the story of Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, a successful doctor who abandoned his medical practice to seek utopian fulfillment through other channels: namely by moving into a 24-foot camper by the beach with his wife and nine children, who he raised on a steady diet of home-schooling and surfing. Way more than a surfing movie, Doug Pray's documentary is the story of one man's bold re-imagination of family values and true contentment.

A film by Christopher Zalla
Not Rated, 110 minutes

“Keeps the tension high through a taut story.” –Chicago Tribune

Winner of the Best Film at the Sundance Film Festival (under its former title Padre Nuestro), SANGRE DE MI SANGRE is an exhilarating and provocative thriller from newcomer Christopher Zalla exposing the dark side of the American dream.

A young Mexican immigrant, Pedro journeys to New York City in search of the successful father he’s never met only to have his belongings and identity stolen by a conniving thief, Juan. As Pedro is left alone and unable to communicate in a country foreign to him, Juan cons his way into the home of Pedro’s father, finding a man just is flawed as he is. While Juan attempts to reinvent himself, Pedro's only hope lies with a mysteriously complex prostitute, as he frantically searches for his identity back.
